Read full storyFollowing on from our last independent ESL teacher post where we learned about Marti Hatos, this week we have Przemysław Jankowski. Przemyslaw hails from Prozan, Poland and has opened his own full-time ESL business.
Over the coming weeks and months we’ll use the Independent ESL Teacher Story series to highlight teachers who are using Off2Class to grow their own independent ESL teaching businesses. Please get in touch if you’d like your story featured.
Welcome Przemysław to the Off2Class blog, and over to you!
‘I’ve been teaching ESL for about 10 years now. I started in language schools teaching various groups of adults (General English, Business English and exam preparation courses). One and a half year ago I opened my own business where I focus on individual tutoring and in-company courses.
I decided to open my own business because I wanted to try my own approach to teaching English. I wanted to teach people practical applications of the language and wanted to inspire and motivate them to gain autonomy in learning. I truly believe that English proficiency can change your life! Additionally, I’ve always been an evangelist of new technologies in language teaching so I wanted the freedom to implement them on a larger scale in my own teaching.
Currently, I teach one-to-one lessons both in-person and online (mostly using Skype). I also teach small (max 5 people) in-company groups. I teach in my own office or on the client’s premises. I like to keep my technology stack simple. I use Off2Class for online lessons or as a support in blended lessons (classes twice a week – one in person, one online). Additionally, I use Quizlet as a tool to boost vocabulary retention.
As for students, I teach only adults and they are from a variety of professions (lawyers, notaries, HR specialists, software developers, construction engineers, electricians, jewellers, university lecturers etc.).
What my students enjoy about Off2Class is the engaging content, well-timed lessons (usually they are ideal for a 60-minute session), notes available for them after each lesson, nicely-prepared homework (especially the open-ended questions), a nice online history of their learning process and the possibility to always review past lessons. I have also persuaded some of my in-person students to start having online lessons with the support of Off2class – they love the fact that they save a huge amount of time on commuting!
In the future I’m planning to introduce Off2Class for my business group lessons. I’d like to use Off2Class as a replacement for a standard course book and use a data projector to run the lessons and then assign the homework to each student via the system.
I would also like to mention that I’m really impressed by the work done by the Off2cCass team and I admire the speed of development as new features, lessons and materials are added every month. I strongly believe I’ll stick to Off2Class as a teaching tool for many years ahead.‘

Przemysław, thank you for highlighting the advantages of off2class, which e-fluentenglish is currently trying out.
The combination of Skype, off2class and quizlet is comprehensive. I tried to connect with you on linkedin as a fellow professional teacher, but as we ‘do not know each other’ I was unsuccessful. Keep up the good work!
