Past Perfect Continuous Lesson Plan – Free Download

The past perfect continuous tense helps English learners (ELs) describe actions that were ongoing in the past before another event occurred. In this lesson, students will explore how to form and use this tense with examples.

Keep in mind: this tense can be challenging for ELs because it combines aspects of the past perfect and past continuous tenses, requiring students to consider both time relationships and verb forms. This is where this Off2Class lesson plan comes in. Through guided exercises, students will practice identifying and constructing sentences to express duration and cause-effect relationships in the past.

Keep reading to find out what to expect from this lesson and how to teach it virtually or in person!
