Aliya Khan: CELTA-certified Teacher and Head of Customer Success
Aliya Khan is the Head of Customer Success at Off2Class, responsible for ensuring district partners can effectively use Off2Class to achieve their intended outcomes, from implementation all the way through account renewal.
To do this, she navigates multi-level stakeholder relationships, from superintendents to language coordinators to teachers, at districts and K-12 schools. She leads the team responsible for all onboarding, training, and development.
A lifelong career in education
Aliya’s expansive career in education is 20+ years in the making. Born and raised in Somerset, in the Southwest of the UK, she ventured into education, after graduating from university, to broaden her perspectives and worldview. Her tenure as an economics, business, and general English teacher ignited a drive to teach and empower others to achieve their full potential.
Throughout Aliya’s subsequent roles as Curriculum Manager, Dean of Student Services, and Assistant Principal at various secondary and higher education institutions across the UK, she worked with teams and students to instill a culture of encouraging high expectations, leading to high achievements across student bodies and schools. Her many accomplishments include:
- pioneering course performance auditing processes to deliver data-driven action plans, resulting in improved student success rates
- recruiting and mentoring newly qualified teachers to successfully achieve national certifications and to deliver outstanding teaching and learning
- managing the strategic direction and development of the school’s curriculum
- externally review other institutions’ teaching and learning performances by observing their lessons, examining the data, and subsequently presenting findings to senior leadership teams to assist with inspection preparation
Moving abroad and discovering Off2Class
Even so, Aliya knew that she was destined for more. Fueled by a passion to continue expanding her horizons, she began looking for roles outside of her home country. It was then that she decided to move to Canada – drawn to the country by its internationalism and diversity.
In October 2020, Aliya discovered Off2Class while teaching ESL online. She made herself a trial account and immediately fell in love with the platform’s extensive high quality robust lesson plans, placement tests, and content.
Reaching out to co-founder Kris Jagasia, she was offered the opportunity to strengthen the customer life cycle – in particular, empowering ESL teachers and institutions to best help their students succeed. Since then, Aliya has refined and restructured the onboarding and support process, determining a smooth and continuous experience for districts and K-12 schools.
The internal voice of the customer at Off2Class
Today, as Head of Customer Success, she coaches her team to empathize with teachers’ need for a time-saving ed-tech solution, to identify with coordinators’ mission to develop exhaustive language programs, and to define the value (ROI) that Off2Class delivers to budget-holders.
Leveraging the points of views of stakeholders at various seniority levels, Aliya then brings in, and champions, the perspective of our customers, to help Off2Class develop a robust and comprehensive tech product experience. She gathers and communicates client feedback and feature requests, works with the sales and content teams to curate an experience that is compatible with the needs and wants of each account, and finally, brings this improved experience back to our clients to troubleshoot and guide them through new features. At Off2Class, Aliya is the internal voice of the customer.
Aliya is a CELTA-certified ESL teacher. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and Management at the University of Plymouth before continuing and completing a postgraduate certificate in Education, Economics and Business at the University of Exeter.
